Heading South To The Flooded Area

We all wish that the New Year would be the start of great memories, but in January many people in Southern Thailand faced extremely severe flood.

The Southern Thailand flood relief was SINGHA R-SA’s first big mission in 2017.

Even though the New Year period is holiday time for everyone, SINGHA R-SA were supported by different groups of people and this mission was a memorable event. It reminded us all to “care for others” with the same effort that we devote to our own happiness.

Huge Disaster Once Again

The Southern flood disaster had begun in November 2016 and lasted for three months affecting a million people.

Houses, farms, hospitals, temples, schools and government offices were all damaged. Roads and bridges were washed away leaving the South of Thailand isolated from other regions.

Food First

From January 7-14, SINGHA R-SA volunteers headed south to help the flood victims in Chumphon, Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat provinces.
We delivered 26,500 packs of Singha drinking water, 11.5 tons of Pandee Rice, and 20 tons of rice from the “Farmers’ rice for Southerner project”. We also set up temporary cooking station to prepare and distribute ready-to-eat meals to the villagers. Relief supply bags were also distributed to the people in need.

Water Dropped, Our Spirit Remains Strong

On January 20, SINGHA R-SA worked in collaboration with Singha Archeeva R-SA team in the recovery mission to Nakhon Si Thammarat. Our technical vocational students helped the flood victims and repaired their motorcycles and electrical equipment which had been damaged by the flood.

When the flood receded and the immediate crisis was faded, there was no longer news headlines. Still, the damages remained visible all over the place.

Our recovery mission brought the smiles back to the faces of the victims and gave them the strength and courage to rebuild their lives.
